Welcome to Featherwood House

Featherwood House is an independent publishing house I've created to publish my books.

I want the freedom to write about the things that matter to me, without having to adapt what I write to fit what a publishing company might consider marketable at a particular time.

I want to write from my heart and soul.

I want to create books that I believe can support, guide and encourage people to create the best lives they can.

I have some previous experience in publishing, so when I decided to take my writing more seriously, creating my own independent publishing company felt like the right way to do it.

Featherwood House gives me the freedom to write the books I want to write, in the way I want to write them, and then put them out into the world to be found by those who want to read them.

Why Featherwood House?

Finding the name was actually rather fun.

I wanted something that felt natural and a little wild, but also had a connection to writing.  I've always loved and collected feathers, and of course there is the lovely connection between a feather and the traditional writer's quill. My home is surrounded by the forest and so wood had to be a part of it.

Eventually, I came to Featherwood House.

I loved it, registered the name — and only afterwards discovered that Featherwood is actually an Australian rainforest tree, Polyosma cunninghamii.
My surname is Cunningham.
I had absolutely no idea!

That made me love the name even more.

Wild ideas. Open paths. Books for a bigger life.

I'm very excited to have opened Featherwood House, and I hope that over the years its shelves will fill with books that bring useful ideas into the world — books that support people, open possibilities and perhaps help someone create a bigger, richer and more fulfilling life.
